Today started out with a surprisingly good breakfast from the hostel, then it was time to visit the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. Went from there to Piazza del Popolo, and then the Mausoleo Augusto (basically the mosuleum for many Roman Emperors) which was a cool, round brick building. The next step was Piazza Navona, which lived up to everything I had heard about it. The fountian in the middle is amazing (see picture). The Pantheon was next (with a stop to pick up paper for Lisa) and which I was impressed by the outside, and the occulous, I didn't think the inside was all that great (but I may be reaching my limits on church visits). Next was my futile search for the Campo de Fiori (I found the neighborhood, but couldn't find it!). Went past the Area Sacra (some sort of ruins, with cats running through) and the momument to Vittorio Emmanuele I (huge and fancy, it's nickname is the Wedding Cake) where they were getting ready to shoot some sort of movie. Walked past all of the forums, and headed back to the hostel (stopped for a greek yogurt on the way). Took a nice shower and waited for things to cool off a bit, then went to meet Katie for the evening. We went out for Chinese (much better than the stuff in England), then headed to the Spanish Steps (that have a great view of the city) and the Trevi Fountain (I threw my coins) which was just breathtaking! Headed towards the hostel and got yogurts (yeah, two in one day, but they are really good!) and talked. Had a funny conversation with an Italian trying to find the Campo de Fiori, and headed home.
