Up nice and early again (they even sent a nice wakeup call at 6:15) to eat breakfast and then catch the bus to the ferry stop. The ferry left at 8:10, and went to Sorrento, which is gorgeous from the water, then we finally got into Capri around 10, and it is UNREAL! The water is so unnaturally blue, and clear. We took a boat tour round the island, and unfortunately the tide was too high, so we didn't make it into the blue grotto (grotto azzuro). We did however, see the grotto smeraldo (emerald grotto) which has amazingly green water, and the grotto bianco (white grotto) where the ceiling is completely white. From there, I went into Capri at the top of the island and spent a rediculous amount of time trying to buy a swimsuit (they aparently have no wish to be covered in any way here), and was finally able to find a really bright one. I went down to the beaches and unfortunately timed it for exactly when everyone else had decided that they had had enough and wanted to go explore town, so I ended up swimming alone. But I actually really enjoyed it, because I was able to absorb how clear the water was, and play in waves without feeling at all self conscious. Eventually I got tired, so I wandered the bit of the down that is down by the harbor. Realized I had gone a whole day in Capri without trying the Caprese salad, so I went into a bar and asked for one on a panino. The guy at the counter started trying to guess where I was from: first 3 places were in Italy! Apparently I either look, act or talk like someone from Abbruzzo. I am very enchanted with the idea, and now want to know more about what it's like there (I'm a nerd, this we know).
Caught the ferry back (see picture above) which felt much shorter, but still amazingly beautiful (the cliffs drop right into the water, and it is so vibrantly colored- see picture below).
Got the on the bus back to Perugia around 7, had a half hour break around 9 for dinner at their version of a truck stop (soooo not the same thing, the food at these is amazing) and ended up getting into Perugia around 12:30, at which point I had to start doing laundry so that I would have clean clothes tomorrow. Ended up going to bed around 2. Thank god I don't have class until 10 tomorrow!
