Napoli e Pompei

Woke up at 4:30 in order to catch our bus, which left for Naples at 5:45. Naples was cool, we went to the Chiesa Nuova del Gesù (New Church of Christ), then the Galleria, then had some pizza (good, but I was always under the impression that Neopolitan pizza was thin, and this was not), then the Palazzo Reale (amazingly intricate) before a little more wandering. Caught our bus to Pompei, which was so different than expected: green, a bit hilly, and in amazingly good condition (you can still clearly see frescoes and tilework!). It was such a shock to come upon the bodies they have found, as it seems like such a peaceful place. Bus to the hotel (after the best lemon/orange juice I've ever had), where we relaxed (and watched strange German commericals), before a really nice dinner (mini pizze, pasta course, fish with potatoes and succhine, and peaches and plums for dessert). Then a bit of a wander on the beach (which was disgustingly littered- but an amazing view of an orange sickle moon and the harbor lights). Enjoyed the luxery of a bath, now off to bed for another early morning tomorrow!
