Not the train again!
Woke up, got on the tube to Kings Cross, walked to St. Pancras, caught a train to Bedford, caught another to Nottingham, switched yet again (after a pasty and a slice of cake) onto one for Mansfield where Maggie met me at the station. Went back to the house and unpacked a bit. Jumped online to catch up with my email and was shocked with a mass of emails trying to set up my housing in Perugia- unfortunately the idea of staying with a family has been nixed, as there aren't enough. So I'll be staying (assuming everything goes as planned, and with this trip it may well not) in a flat with a girl (Julie) who I know from Jumptown and a guy (Mike) who I know from the Tavola Italiana conversation group this past semester. Should be really fun, as they are both really nice people. So I started sending off frantic emails trying to get that sorted (ended up having Mom and Maggie checking my emails for me, you'll see why in a minute). Danny and Maggie then took me down to Nottingham for tea with Booba, where I stayed the night- as I was going dancing. They took me into city centre after tea, where I caught a bus to the Festival Inn in Trowell (which is this old pub, really quite cute) where I had a bit of a lesson, and a bit of a dance- there weren't too many leads, then caught a bus back to Nottingham, and a cab to Booba's (my grandmother, for those not used to bastardized yiddish). She was still up, as she only had one key, and refused to give it to me (but Maggie had told me that she would be up anyway). I ended up making calls to Julie to make sure we were on the same page with housing, and then to Mom's house, where I talked to Abby (even though it was 11:30pm for me, it was only 5:30 for her, so Mom wasn't home) and was able to relay directions on how to handle the housing situation. It felt really nice to talk to people from home, it was good to hear familiar voices. Then it was off to bed for me.
