Head to Head Gelato Wars
OK, another day of classes, but at least this one was civilization with Donatella and grammar exercises with Scilla, who are both extremely amusing. Insanely hot day, so I rushed home at 2 and changed into PJs, did some laundry, then realized that I still had class (a grammar class was rescheduled because the teacher can't make it on monday), so I ended up going to class in my PJs (very unitalian). Even more unItalian is that I then wandered around the centro storico and got two gelatos (one from each of the places: a fig/ two other flavors I don't understand, one of which translates as English Soup from La Rosetta, and the Blood Orange/Almond/Dark Chocolate from Augusta Perusia. Augusta Perusia won for gelato, but Rosetta had a better cone. ). Went back home and got to observe a little bit of the Sagre delle cose Bianche (Festival of White Things) that Julie and her (guy?) Sam planned (she wanted an excuse to wear her white dress, and he wanted to get her to try white wine- thus white things). Ate a really late dinner (or as you would say here, normal, as the Italians tend not to eat until 8 or 9), then looked at a guidebook someone had lent me for advice on Cinque Terre (apparently, the fish is good- sarcasm does not go over well when typed, but it is there), then bed!
