Started off my rediculously long day of classes with my final exam, which took an hour and I think went pretty well. Other than that, pretty much the same old thing: classes till 5, dinner, hanging out with people. Since there isn't much to tell there, here are some random things I have to say, that have no better place:
Perugia is beautiful: old in a way I've never seen before, with random views across the country that you stumble upon and make you loose your ability to speak, an obession with the passegiata which I feel justifies the stories that it started here, and an amazing assortment of gelaterias (currently debating if I like La Rossetta or Agustia Perusia better).
Perugia is on a darn big hill: everywhere you walk, you end up having to climb a hill. I live at the top of a hill, but it isn't the main hill (it's called Monteluce), so everytime I leave the house, I have to walk down to Porta Pesa and then up to the centro storico. You think Bascom is a big hill? It's got nothing on Perugia.
The weather here is surprisingly like Minnesota: humid, buggy and around 90 degrees constantly. The difference is that here they have the grand idea of the siesta (I know it's the Spanish word, and that there are Italian words, but the Italians use siesta, so I will too), which means that everything except for expensive clothing stores (the few that have air conditioning) shuts down from 1 to 4. Except the foreigners running around trying to figure out why things are closed in the middle of the day.
Everything you have heard about Italian men is true: they think they are gods, and that you will obviously fall in love with them, all they have to do it get you to notice them. To this effect, I have been whistled at, hissed at, and sung to. Luckily I seem to have mastered the art of walking down the street without making eye contact, as that is considered flirting, and has lead to some rather awkward situations for some of the other girls on the program.
Have any specific questions about Italy? Want to prove to me that I am not writing this only for my own entertainment? Post a comment, and I promise I will try my best to answer your questions!
