Deruta and what was supposed to be Assisi
OK, so got up nice and early to take the bus to Deruta (a nearby hill town that is known for its maolica ceramics). At the first store I go into, the owner is really nice, and actually takes me down to his studio to throw a bowl when he finds out that I did a little bit of art. Really, really fun. Went up to the historic center and wandered around all the shops there, waiting for the ceramics museum to open up, and went in there when it did. Pretty interesting, definately made more so by my having taken Intro Ceramics last semester. Did some more wandering in town, then went down to wander near the bus station. Was sitting eating a gelato, waiting for the bus that was supposed to come in an hour, when I see a bus that was not supposed to exist go past. Apparently they had switched the times on me, so I was stuck in Deruta for 2 hours, during which I was supposed to be meeting the Madison group to go to Assisi (also during which a man with really horrible teeth tried to hit on me, why does that always happen when you are in no mood to deal with it?). So, I finally get back to Perugia, and head to the train station to try to hook up with the group to Assisi, and have already bought my ticket when I find out that the next train isn't for almost an hour. So I give up and go home, and spend most of the night focusing on Angels and Demons by Dan Brown as a way to keep from getting pissed off at a tourist office that gives out the wrong bus information.
