Today we've got new words, one worksheet and TWO games!
Today we're learning VALENTINE'S words!
In JAPAN, girls give boys chocolate on Valentine's Day, right? And boys give girls cookies on White Day (3/14), right?
In AMERICA, there is no White Day.... (stop for utter shock on the part of students) Girls give boys chocolate (or candy, or valentines, or flowers, or cookies) on Valentine's Day, and boys give girls presents on the SAME DAY (stop again for shock).
Valentine's Day in Japan was weird. There are two type of chocolate gifts: gifts for the boy you love, and "giri-choco" (chocolate that's basically required for supervisors). Both are usually homemade, despite every store being stocked with PILES of boxed chocolates at the doors for the past few weeks.
I didn't give anyone chocolate. But I did get chocolate (see above) from one of the sixth grade girls at Saku Higashi. And I got asked about 40 times (by the vice principal, 1st graders, lunchlady etc.) if I sent Brian some.
