Veterinary Care

I've been pretty impressed with the veterinarian here in Sakuho- the office is clean and new, the vet's very efficient, and Yan Cha still doesn't seem to mind going. Not too surprising given the disparity in animal treatment here (if I haven't mentioned it before, basically, there are two types of animals a. very pampered pets, and b. outside pets that get little-to-no attention). My theory is that people who are taking their pets to the vets tend to have the very pampered kind, so they'd expect a good vet.

I've been able to get all of Yan Cha's shots done, including rabies (which doesn't exist in Japan, and had to be special ordered), for less than I thought it would be and without much hassle (having Julienne to interpret certainly helped with that). Yan Cha went in to be spayed on Tuesday, and it went very well- she was kept overnight for observation, and is now wandering the house again (with a cone on her head to keep her from chewing the stiches).

Two weird things:
a) she seems to like the cone, and complains if we take it off
b) the vet showed us her ovaries that he's taken out, and seemed to expect us to want to take them home. Maybe I haven't been around after a spay or neuter before, but that seems like something that wouldn't happen in the US...
