Happy New Year (Part 4- Langkawi)

Langkawi was gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I've never done the tropical vacation thing before, so it was really fun. We stayed in a great little cabin, literally steps from the beach, and could watch the tide come and go from the porch. It was so relaxing!

We did a couple of really cool things in Langkawi, the first of which was visiting the Seven Wells. Basically, this is a waterfall that has carved rock pools on its way down a mountain. The interesting thing is that it carved most of them halfway up. This basically creates (really cold) swimming holes, with amazing views. And natural waterslides (although you have to be careful not to go down the last one). Absolutely stunning.

We also went up onto the Sky Bridge, which is a completely manufactured tourist attraction, but really fun. You take a cable car (one of the steepest in the world) up to a platform on the top of a mountain, from which you can walk across a suspension bridge for a gorgeous view. It was really beautiful (and the restrooms on the side of the mountain had the prettiest view I've ever seen in a toilet).

Oh, and after coming down the mountain from there, we went to a spa where fish eat the dead skin off of your feet. Probably the weirdest thing we did the whole trip. It feels really strange.

After Langkawi, we flew to Kuala Lumpur, where we hung out in the airport (where they had Reeses!), then to Hong Kong. We visited the Ladie's Market again to get a Go board for Brian, and ate some more (I love the food there). Next morning we flew back to Japan. I honestly cannot put into words how much fun this trip was. It was so different from anything I've done before, but really enjoyable.
