Cooking

I've discovered an interesting fact about myself since living here: I cook significantly better food when I cook for other people.

Not to say that I can't cook decent food for myself (occasionally it does happen), but that I tend not to. I think it might be related to the fact that I care more that other people think it's good, but I only need to think it's edible. That, paired with the fact that I am incapable of making small amounts of anything, means that I've been eating a lot of sub-par, rather monotonous food at home.

BUT- I found a cure for this problem. Last night, I had some of the other ALTs over, cooked for them, and split the remains. I got the tasty food benefit of cooking for other people. and didn't end up with tons of leftovers. They got to have someone else cook enough food for two meals for them and all they had to do was drive to my place. After having split the bill too, it was really cheap. Big success- definitely think it'll be happening again.

Oh, and I've concluded that Yan Cha both likes crowds, and behaves fairly well in them. And they tired her out enough that she's still calm today :)

Word to that.

When I'm on my own it's all cottage cheese with fruit, leftovers or PB&J.
